Welcome to The 700 Islands, a guide to The Bahamas, a tropical paradise that promises sun-soaked beaches, crystal-clear waters, and a vibrant culture that will leave you enchanted. Whether you’re planning an itinerary getaway, looking for travel inspiration, cruising through by yacht or just dreaming of sandy shores, this guide to navigating The 700 Islands has you covered.
As a Bahamian native, I call this enchanting archipelago my home. I have visited over 15 Bahama islands, explored uncharted waters and hiked many historical land treks. This has been a passion of mine since a young girl. This blog is a reflection of my deep love for my homeland and my commitment to sharing its beauty with the world.
My goal is to give you insider knowledge of the best-kept secrets and hidden gems of the islands. I can offer you the unique perspective only a local can provide. Whether it’s a secluded beach, a hidden dive spot, or a local eatery, you’ll find it here. Through my extensive diving and land exploration experience, I will guide you through the most spectacular dives and explorations, no matter your experience.
The Bahamas boasts a rich cultural heritage that combines West African, European, and American influences. A few of my favorite vibrant festivals and events are The Goombay Festival and Junkanoo, a colorful and energetic Bahamian street parade. Look out for the best time to visit to visa requirements and local customs, I’ll provide essential travel tips.
By sharing my personal experiences and knowledge, my goal is to inspire you to explore my home paradise and immerse yourself authentically. I want to ignite your wanderlust, and to make your trip to The Bahamas an unforgettable journey.
This blog is not just about a destination; it’s about an experience of a lifetime, and I’m here to guide you every step of the way. Welcome to The 700 Islands, and welcome to a world of adventure, culture, and natural beauty.
Here are a few of my favourite islands to visit:
Nassau and Paradise Island: The capital city of Nassau and neighboring Paradise Island offer a mix of colonial history and modern luxury. Explore historic sites like Fort Charlotte, relax on Jaws Beach, and or dive a sunken shipwreck. Nassau is more of a touristic hub, it boasts its newly renovated cruise ship port and many marinas to fuel up from along journey or spend the summer onboard your yacht.
The Exuma Cays: The Exuma Cays are a captivating playground for those seeking natural beauty and immersive marine experiences. My absolute favorite place for adventure and play! Discover the unique charm of Big Majors Cay, home to the famous swimming pigs, and explore the pristine underwater wonderland of the Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park. Vibrant dive and snorkels sites such as Jeep and Danger Reef. Additionally, you can embark on off-the-beaten-path trails at Shroud and Hawksbill Cay to uncover hidden treasures in this remarkable paradise.
Harbour Island & Eleuthera: What makes Harbour Island and Eleuthera appealing is their close proximity (approximately the same distance as The Exuma Cays)
to Nassau, the capital. It’s renowned for its stunning Pink Sand Beaches and the charming and colorful Dunmore Town, known for its colonial architecture and laid-back atmosphere. The island offers an array of fine dining and cuisine, water activities, from snorkeling and diving and my personal favorite horse back riding on the beach.
So proud to be Bahamian!
Ahhh…. such a tropical paradise where every day is a postcard waiting to be captured!
Whether you’re looking for relaxation on pristine beaches or thrilling adventures underwater, the stunning archipelago of The Bahamas offers it all. Come and discover the magic for yourself - you won’t be disappointed!
